Mediation is a tool for resolving disputes in a peaceful and constructive manner, as it allows the parties involved to communicate their needs and interests and work towards a mutually beneficial solution. Mediation can be used in a variety of settings, from workplace disputes to family conflicts, and can help to save time, money, and relationships.
The Mediation Process
-
Confidential initial meetings with each participant to learn about the conflict and their willingness to participate.
-
The mediator will carefully review all related documentation.
-
The mediator will meet with each participant privately and work with them to understand the root causes of the conflict, their best case scenarios, and how they will manage their emotions through the mediation process.
-
A joint conversation will take place between the participants with the mediator present.
-
The mediator will work with the participants to create a written agreement that both parties have mutually agreed upon.
-
The mediator will follow up with the participants as required for up to 3 months after mediation at no additional cost.
The TTC Advantage
Conflict coaching as part of the pre-mediation sessions equips participants with the essential skills to understand their own emotions and perspectives. This preparation not only enhances communication but also empowers the participants to engage more constructively during the mediation process. Our Conflict Coach is registered with Mediate BC.
